Improvisational Modalities
With TINATA
Friday, March 1, 3:30pm—Epic Center—Judy Jolliffe Theater
Elizabeth Corbett/dance collective TINATA will collaborate with the dancers in this class to explore creative processes behind the work «Things that aren’t there.» One of our points of departure will be a warm-up made up improvisation progressions. This eight step progression was developed by TINATA out of our questions. Utilizing our questions about defined movement tasks, and prioritizing our doubts and skepticism, we were able to hone flexible, useful movement modalities to share in our work. During the class we‘ll integrate the dancers’ questions to grow hybrid, personalized progressions. We’ll work toward sharing these modalities in improvisation frameworks.
Awaken Your Body and Spirit: A Contemporary and Latin Dance Experience
with radicle artist aMANDA ramirez
Saturday, March 2, 9:00am—Epic Center: Judy Jolliffe Theater
Amanda Ramirez's class will begin with a gentle full body scanned warm up that focuses on awakening, activating, stretching and connecting. As the warm up wakes our bodies, the music intensifies into a grounded rhythm. We will use this rhythm and improvisation to connect with others in the room. As the room buzzes with energy we will take that into a combination utilizing the dance forms of contemporary dance with latin dance forms like cumbia, salsa and afro cuban. The class will have you feeling grounded, alive and connected to your fellow dancers. Come have fun and awaken your body and spirit with me!

Saturday, March 2, 10:30am—Epic Center: Judy Jolliffe Theater
We explore the structural body by finding the center of our own body and supporting our partner through the point of power. Through this process, we exchange various stimuli, sensations, and emotions with our partner. Contact is both destiny and growth for humans. We strive to understand the process of experiencing social communication through contact.
